"Flodder"isoneofthefunniestmoviesevermadeandfewpeoplerealisethatitisaDutchmoviemadebynoneotherthantheHollandversionofJohnCarpenter,thefamousDickMaas,authoranddirectorofthethriller"Amsterdamned".TheFlodderfamilyisthereincarnationoftheterma-social.Whenthewholefamilybunch,basicallyallbastards,criminalsandslutsmustberelocatedfromtheirCityslumbecauseoftoxicwasteundertheirhouse,thecitycouncilhousenochoice.Theonlyavailablespaceisinthe"Zoendal"-the"SunValley"thebestareainAmsterdamwherealldoctors,snobsandbusinessmencanaffordtolivetheirlives.Andwherethecentralpointofinterestandpoliticsisthetennisclubofthecommunity.TheFlodderfamilybringsdevastationtothetranquilworldthatruledbefore.Theyaresimplyunbelievable.Thecharacterisationisincrediblyfunny,beginningwithMaFlodderwhosearchesotherpeople'strashcansforfoodormakingillegalliquorinhercellarandendingwiththeeldestdaughterwhoisthebiggestslutonearth.Togethertheymakethemosthorriblefamilyimaginable,asortofimmoralmirrorimagetotheBradyBunchortheWaltons.WhentheCitycounselofAmsterdamhopedthattheFlodderswouldshowtheirgoodwilltobemorecivilisedintheirnewarea,itturnsoutthatHolland'smostfamousfamilywouldratherbringouttheworstintherichpeopleof"SunValley"-wonderland.Therestisahilarious,brilliantandwellmadesocialsatirethatcanbewatchedasaprovocativemovieaswellasastraightforwardcomedy.DickMaasathisbest.Isalutehim!FlooderwastheDutchsmashhitin1986andbroughttwosequelsandatvseries.Allofthesequelswerenicebutnotasgreatastheoriginal.
